About the Author

A reader of fantasy novels and lover of all things unreal.

After seeing such little representation within the fantasy community – and growing frustrated at the physical and emotional pain that black characters were put through for the sake of ‘plot’ I decided to create my own world heavily focused on lore and stories from Africa.

During a visit to my native country of Eritrea in 2019, I saw the beauty of the countryside and landscapes – but recognised the lack of support and charity being given to refugees. Understanding that millions of Eritreans did not leave for the sake of leaving their country by dangerous roads and seas, I dedicate my work to all those who were robbed of the chance to live a free and happy life.

My first and current novel, Blood and Kin, focuses on the story of refugees and children of migrants.

I hope to curate a world in this novel for black children to escape to, as I had once escaped herself in the lands of Hogwarts and Narnia.
